BlogRoom.com 2008 Thanksgiving Wine Picks
I think there are a wide variety of wines that make a good fit with a traditional Thanksgiving dinner. It really comes down to what you and your guests prefer. One good solution is to offer a few varieties of red and a few of white; go for the "cover your bases" approach that will keep everyone happy. And it makes it kind of fun for everyone to try different wines to see what they enjoy with their meal.
Regardless of how you go, I thought I would recommend a bottle of red and a bottle of white to consider adding to your mix. These two bottles I found to be very representative of their variety while also having some unique traits that make them fun. They are also very affordable and easily accessible.
White Recommendation:
2006 Val Do Sosego Albariño
Red Recommendation
2007 Willamette Valley Vineyards Whole Cluster Pinot Noir
Many guests may not have had an Albarino before so I thought that would make things more interesting. And the whole cluster approach to Willamette Valley Vineyards' Pinot will certainly make people take a second look at the bottle.
These are two great bottles. I hope you enjoy.
