2005 Sebastiani Merlot Sonoma
This was a very enjoyable Merlot, and its $15 price tag makes it an incredible value too. I'd read a few reviews about this bottle in different magazines, and I've had it scribbled down on a piece of paper in my wallet (the random notes that guide what's reviewed on this site), so when I saw it for $14.99 I decided to give it a go.
This bottle and the Indian Wells Chateau Ste. Michelle are really reviving my interest in Merlots. They are nice to throw in the mix once in a while, and if I can keep finding bottles like this priced in the teens, I'm a happy camper.
The wine is very dark in color, there's a nice big fruit on the nose, and very pleasant flavor and aromas throughout. It finishes beautifully, very smooth with an air of quality that you find in more expensive bottles. I was pleasantly surprised, and will buy this one again. Seek it out next time you're in the Merlot aisle.
